What originally started as a real nightmare - the acquisition of Biotim by its main competitor Waterleau - gradually became a positive sequence of opportunities via a silent (r)evolution from a French-conservative and rigid company culture into a more Anglo-Saxon, progressive and opportunic way of doing business in a flexible organization that is constantly adapting itself to the changing market circumstances.

For more than 1 year, I’m working at Waterleau for the business unit Biosolids and Waste. I started as project engineer for a HelioSolids Fluidized bed waste incineration plant with energy recovery and flue gas cleaning for refinery sludge in Romania that was in progress. Within our project team, I have different tasks: engineering, support of our draftsmen and site supervisors, quality inspections, meetings with the customer and suppliers, etc. A lot of variations and challenges!
Later in the project, regular onsite visits to the plant gave me the possibility to expand my knowledge and improve my experience.
The sensitization of the people and the political will to protect our planet make that our business has a lot of opportunities. Despite the economical crisis of the last years, the differentiation of activities (waste water, new energy, sludge, air pollution) and spreading of customers going from companies to investors and governments makes the company Waterleau less sensitive for an economical relapse. For our business unit Biosolids and Waste we have new orders in Belgium as well as abroad.
This makes that working for Waterleau gives you a lot of opportunities!

Waterleau started ten years ago as a small brave company, ready to conquer the world.
Little by little, in accepting the adventure, through the executing of new projects, by the acquisition of other companies, and ready to develop and grow day by day, Waterleau became a solid and important player in the market of environmental technologies.
I think we live with Waterleau in a very challenging and exciting phase today. No longer small, not yet fully developed, we are creating the future now. What we realize is the further fundament for tomorrow. It is hard working, but fun. It is trying and searching, but learning and satisfying.
